Summary[]

S2Ep10 The students afraid of Balam

Iruma, Azz, and everyone else in the classroom except Clara is constricted by Balam's vines and forced to listen to Balam's lecture on Imaginary Beasts. When Iruma tries to ask a question, Balam immediately jumps to the conclusion that the question is about the diet of an Imaginary Beast. Balam then gives an example of the different diets of a Demon World cat and an imaginary cat. Iruma then asks Azz if Balam's class was the reason why the students they encountered before who ran away were scared. Azz confirms it and mentions Balam's Magic power called Skinship, and a couple of other students detail that Balam touches everyone to see if they're fit for his experiments and that he kidnaps the students he likes. Then, Balam changed the class's topic to Humans and asked the students, with the help of a dummy, what they would do if they saw a human. Most students claim they'd like to eat the human, leaving Iruma completely distraught. Continuing with his lecture, Balam explains that humans are full of desires, which are nutritious for demons. When Haruno asked what he would do if he encountered a human. Balam answers that he'd ask them how they'd survive, noting his theory of the environment humans and imaginary beasts may inhabit. Going on about how demons have wings, Balam feels Iruma's back and is astounded. He takes Iruma to the faculty office and announces that Iruma doesn't have wings. Robin and Momonoki dismiss the claim, but Balam steps in, stating that he felt Iruma's back and claims he doesn't have any base wings. This causes a scene when Balam tears off the back of his jacket and exposes Iruma's back. Alikred saves him by creating fake ones for him.

S2Ep10 Balam unmasked

Later, Balam and Iruma walked back to the classroom, and Iruma was relieved that he dodged the bullet of being exposed as a human. Trying to go his separate ways from Balam, Balam grabs his shoulder, noting that his field of research consists of preconceptions. To him, Iruma either has a severe illness, or he's a very special creature. As he states this, Balam unlocks and slowly removes his mask while Iruma concludes he will be eaten. However, Balam was merely showing Iruma his disfigured face to evening the odds between them. Perplexed by this revelation, Iruma is then told by Balam that his fangs are considered rather scary; hence he wears the mask to appear less frightening. As to why Balam told this to Iruma, it was because of his tiny wings. He thought he could relate to Iruma in some way. Because of this, Iruma sees Balam from a lighter perspective and is then led to the Underworld History Prep room. Served some Hell Grey Tea, Iruma calmly reveals to Balam that he's human but immediately regrets it.

A couple of brief flashbacks are shown where Balam chooses to study books on imaginary beasts instead of playing or interacting with his fellow demon students. Back to the present, Iruma reveals that he's a human, and Balam faints due to the shock. Balam asks about Iruma's wings, and Iruma answers that they're fake and that he doesn't have a tail either. Taking a step forward, Balam freaks out and cowers behind a pile of boxes, claiming he won't be able to resist his temptations, which Iruma believes that Balam means his appetite. However, because Iruma is a human, he can't handle his nervous tension. Iruma then touches Balam's mask sending him backward in shock. Balam then lectures Iruma on how dangerous it is that he's a human in the Demon World. Noting how fortunate he was until then and that he only revealed himself to be a human to Balam because of how nice he was to him. Balam then goes on a tirade about how he's the only person that would react like that. Several hours afterward, Iruma is exhausted from Balam's lecture but still considers him to be a nice person.

S2 Ep10 Over exhausted by studying

The following day, Iruma and his friends find that the students assiduously studying are all burnt out. Following Azz's suggestion of being tutored, the Royal One class is split into two groups the Moron and Smart students. The Moron consisting of Iruma, Gaap, Ix, Lied, Agares, Caim, Clara and Jazz. The Smart students consist of Azz, Sabro, Crocell, and Allocer. However, due to there being no way to tutor the disparity between the number of "Moron" students, Azz dismisses the idea. Iruma then asks about Azz's plans for school break, and the Moron students reveal their plans to go to Walter Park and other places. Azz criticizes them as foolish until he sees Iruma's reaction to their responses. Lied asks if Iruma has ever been to Walter Park before, and Iruma sullenly answers no, to which Jazz claims that they should all take him there then. While the students cheer about this, Kalego steps in, states that they still need to pass their exams, and reveals he'll be in charge of the supplementary class. Jazz then reveals to Iruma that he can't cheat on the exam as anyone who has is always caught. At that moment, Balam enters the classroom, Kalego approaches him, and the two bro-fist each other. It's then revealed that they were both classmates at Babyls. Aside from that revelation, the students are astonished that Kalego actually gets along with another demon. Balam was there because he wanted to check up on Iruma to see if anyone discovered that Iruma was a human and that he overheard that he was having trouble studying for his exams. Therefore Balam offers to give Iruma something useful to help him, a storybook that's an allegory of the differences between the basics of magical practice. The book is easy for Iruma to comprehend, and Balam states that he'll make more to help Iruma with his studies. Later that afternoon spends some time in the Magical Apparatus Battler room, where Clara "studies" in her own way, and after that, Iruma spends time with Lied and Gaap in the Gamer Battler Room. Iruma also texts Ameri that he's hard at work on his studies. However, this was not the case, as all Royal One students were caught up with Clara's "studying" fashion.

Eventually, Iruma reads a touching story by Balam about torture's history. Iruma then reveals to Balam that he's still getting a lot of wrong answers in his studies but is in the process of "updating" himself. Intrigued by Iruma, Balam takes notes about him and gives him the next volume of the book he read. Afterward, in the library, Iruma is shown to have improved his test-taking skills, and watching from afar were the Moron students who later are shown to be interested in studying again. From there, the class changes into a group study, where everyone helps out one another. Feeling enthusiastic about how fun studying can be, Iruma succumbs to another study high. Finally, the day of the exam arrives.
