Caim Camui[8] is a second-year student attending Babyls Demon School alongside Iruma Suzuki in the Abnormal Class.
Appearance[]
Camui wears the typical boy's uniform at Babyls, including a blue cape with white highlights, and a demonic eye-like bow tie at the center.
He appears somewhat bird-like, with a beak, wing-like hands, and a general bird-like fluffiness to his head and body. His ears are comparatively cat-like, and he has two small horns on top of his head.
Personality[]
Originally, Camui is girl-obsessed and somewhat perverted, doing things like trying to see up Elizabetta's skirt during the execution cannonball game and sneaking into the succubus class for girls only. He is often seen trying to get the attention of one or more girls, but usually fails due to his bold approach.
During the Harvest Arc, he was tutored by Mister Hat on how to gain attention through a gentlemanly manner, although he still retained his perverted nature.
Despite these traits, Camui does appear hard-working and caring for his classmates.
History[]
Not much is known about Camui's past prior to the main storyline, however, his perverted behavior towards teachers and other students has landed him in the abnormal class.[9] Before, he was a student in Babyls he was read a story of the Caim Family History. Due to this, he believes that if he acts as a gentleman he will be popular with women.
Synopsis[]
Entrance Exam Arc[]
During their first activity, which was the flying race, Camui was given the rank of Aleph (1) based on his performance from the activity.
Cannonball Execution Arc[]
Camui was assigned to Team B along with Kerori, Gaap, Purson, Allocer, and Asmodeus. He was eventually taken out of the game when he crossed over to the opposing team's side to give Elizabetta the ball while trying to peek up her skirt, and their team eventually lost.
Walter Park Arc[]
After their finals examination, and being promoted to Beth (2),[10] due to his above-average test scores, Camui went to Walter Park along with the rest of the Abnormal Class. During their visit to the amusement part, he was grouped with Shax, Jazz, and Gaap, with Kalego as their entourage. While they were wandering in the park and trying to have fun, the group Six Fingers suddenly attacked by summoning three beasts in order to create a diversion while breaking out Amy Kirio from the jail below.
During the attack, Camui along with his classmates asked Kalego to help them take out the beast (Taurus Mountain Bull), but to their dismay, Kalego told them that the battle would be a great opportunity for them to hone their skills and therefore refused to help them. Under the leadership of Jazz, they eventually take down the beast with Camui having used his Friendship ability to cause the first distraction.
Harvest Festival[]
During the Harvest Festival, Camui teamed up with Crocell Keroli. They used their special training to the fullest in summoning and becoming allies with beasts in order to create the formidable Beast Empire. They eventually clashed with Gaap and Agares' group, which eventually led to a stalemate.
Due to their unique strategy of taming beasts and using them as a means to collect points during the festival, Camui, along with Kerori, was promoted to Gimel (3).[11]
Music Festival[]
Camui was part of the Abnormal Class' musical entitled "Lilith's Red Carpet" where he was part of the dance group, and also portrayed the Passionate Gentleman.[12] After the Music Festival the entire class was promoted to Daleth (4) for their performance (except for Iruma who was promoted to He (5) ).[13]
Heart Breaker Arc[]
During the Heart Breaker exam, Camui was paired with Pheené Marianne and her secretary Uzu. Marianne was hoping to be paired with Asmodeus, Sabnock, Agares, Andro, or Iruma. Much to her dismay she was partnered with Caim. In the middle of the Exam after the announcement that they must stop the awakening of The Teachers' Leader Sullivan they met with Asmodeus' team consisting of him Zeze and Sylvia. After Asmodeus's recommendation of beating him up when he was annoying they made their way to the chamber where Sullivan was waiting to be released. They were then stopped by Ifrit Djinn Eito. Asmodeus decided to fight Ifrit alone and left guarding the 1st years to Caim. In the summoning chamber The group is confronted by Momonoki. Caim defends the first years by commanding their Familiars When the seals wear off he is left to tank Momonoki's attacks. Momonoki beats him up with her spells until Caim collapses onto Marianne's lap. Who then proceeds to plead with Momonoki to stop her attacks.
Abilities[]
Translation (Close Friends): Camui's inherited magic. He can translate the languages of other creatures and command them.
Inhuman Durability: Despite his small size, Camui is very sturdy, able to tank a teacher’s attacks during the Heart Breaker Event. Whether or not Momonoki-sensei was fighting at 100% was never revealed.
Relationships[]
Iruma Suzuki[]
Though their one-on-one actions have been fairly limited so far, Camui respects Iruma but is often enraged by Iruma’s success with multiple girls.
Asmodeus Alice[]
Camui has been acknowledged as a gentleman in terms of manners by Asmodeus although he himself does not like being anything like him. It is implied that Asmodeus regularly beats up Camui.
Ix Elizabetta[]
She is one of Camui's regular targets for his harassment. As the most beautiful girl he is often around, Camui will regularly try to gain her affections but is repeatedly shut down.
Gaap Goemon[]
They seem to be on friendly terms with one another and can often be seen in each other's company. Their only real known conflict was during the Harvest Arc when their groups fought each other but they are shown not to hold any grudges against one another even though Camui admitted to being jealous that Goemon was around so many girls.
Allocer Schneider[]
Camui is jealous of Allocer due to the fact he has a girlfriend but otherwise regularly gets along with him.
Crocell Kerori[]
Kerori, like most people who meet him, did not like him at first and she was often his second interest after Elizabetta although he wasn't as bold in his approach toward her. They seem to work well with each other after Mr. Hat's Training as the two built a large Beast Empire during the Harvest Festival with Camui acting as Kerori's second-in-command.
Pheené Marianne[]
When she first met him, her reaction was of disappointment then immediately followed by disgust. After Caim protected her and the other first years from Momonoki she then proceeded to defend him.
Trivia[]
- In demonology, Camio (also spelled as Caim and Caym) is a President of Hell, having 30 legions of demons under his command. He is a good disputer and can give men the understanding of the voices of animals (such as birds, bullocks, dogs, etc.) and the voices of waters, give true answers concerning things to come. He is depicted as a thrush but can change into a man with a sharp sword in his hand. When answering the summoner's question, he seems to be standing on burning ashes or coals. Camio's name seems to be taken from Cain - the First murderer according to the Bible.
- Camui shares the same Japanese voice actor with Orias Oswell.
- The fact that he, albeit unconsciously, is the only boy who does not feel attracted to the demon-dol Irumi makes him similar to another notoriously perverse character, namely Ataru Moroboshi, who, while flirting with all the beautiful girls he meets, is also the only one who doesn't feel attraction to them when, in fact, are boys in drag.
