"Thank you for being born, Iruma-kun." ― Lord Sullivan
Iruma Suzuki's Demonic Rites (鈴木入間“降魔の儀” Suzuki Iruma "Kōma no Gi"?) is the one hundred-and-eighty-third chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
The revelation that everyone close to Iruma missed his birthday spreads like wildfire among them, and to remedy the situation, they prepare to celebrate it.
First thing, Opera carries a blindfolded and unsuspecting Iruma to an unknown location, where he sees himself wearing a cloak and as the centerpiece of a demon ritual. Sullivan then reveals to Iruma that he is at a special chapel constructed by Picero's family, and Alice and Clara sob at the fact that they missed Iruma's birthday and his Demonic Rites, causing Iruma to question what that exactly is. According to everyone, the Demonic Rites are rituals that celebrate a demon's birth where attendees bring gifts, dance, and sing while wearing costumes; essentially, a Demon World form of a birthday.
Thankfully his confusion is covered by Shichiro, who says that since Iruma comes from far away in the Demon World, he isn't used to their customs and traditions. Opera then notices that Kalego isn't present and fixes that by having Iruma summon him in his familiar form, to his immense displeasure. Nevertheless, once he arrives, Sullivan begins the ritual, where he and the others light the room, ring bells, and sing. Iruma starts getting nervous about what he should do, but Alikred calms him down when he explains that they are lighting unholy water to represent the souls of the attendees. They will then pour into a big tub to signify them giving their life to him, present him with gifts, and thank him for being born into the world and living among them. According to Alikred, this is the only time a demon can show gratitude for life. After Alice finishes him, Clara gives Iruma her gift before everyone else.
After Sullivan thanks him for being born, Iruma starts crying joy at celebrating such a momentous occasion and thanks everyone for making it possible, which causes several of them to hug him in return. He then asks when everyone else's birthdays are, with Opera trying to keep Sullivan from melting himself from his own tears.
With that, Iruma goes from a fourteen-year-old to a fifteen-year-old.
