Summoning a Familiar! (“使い魔”召喚！ "Tsukaima" Shōkan!?) is the second chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.

The time has come for the students to summon their familiars, and things take an interesting turn when Iruma summons his familiar.
Plot[]
Iruma dreams of his life back home while his mother gives him various tasks. Suddenly she asks him if she can sell him to Lord Sullivan. In the beginning, Iruma starts to agree but suddenly yells, denies it, and wakes up. As he tries to remember where he is, Sullivan opens the door and invites him for breakfast.
While eating breakfast, Sullivan reminds Iruma that today is the first day of school. Iruma tries to stop him from sending him to school, but Sullivan interrupts and presents him with many gifts to celebrate his enrollment. After that, Sullivan asks him to tell what he wants to say, but after seeing so many gifts, (and being a pushover), he says it is nothing. After leaving Iruma for school, Opera asks Sullivan what he thought when he chose a human as his grandchild instead of a demon. Sullivan says that it is nothing. Sullivan tries to follow Iruma into the school, but Opera stops him since he has work to do later on.
On entering the school, Iruma is greeted by a cheerful Alice and proceeds to take his bag while other students talk about how Alice is serving the honor student. He tells Iruma about the first lesson of the day, which is summoning a familiar, and that the student's rank will be determined by measuring their familiar's strength.
Inside the school, Iruma comments that the atmosphere is a bit tense. Alice explains that the class will be divided based on today's lesson. And also, the administrator is a bit infamous. As Iruma wonders about the administrator, a teacher walks in. He introduces himself as Naberius Kalego, their administrator. He tells the student he is always in charge of this activity because he is ruthless and will judge whether the students are useless. He will not tolerate anyone who uses their grandfather's influence to create a commotion on the opening ceremony day.
He then explains the procedure to summon a familiar and orders everyone to line up for the summoning. As the summoning proceeds, Alice summons a Gorgon Snake as his familiar. While everybody compliments him, Kalego ponders how he was beaten by the Iruma. As Iruma steps up for the summoning, Kalego thinks he will see how powerful he is.
Iruma panics over how he can summon a familiar if he has no magic, and if he does it badly, he might get expelled. But he thinks that if he performs poorly in summoning, he could get willingly expelled and stop attending school. At this, Iruma smiles in relief, which other students mistake for confidence. Kalego sees him and gets angry over how similar Iruma and the principal are. However, as the summoning ceremony for a demon summoning a familiar and a human summoning a demon for a contract are the same, Iruma accidentally summons his teacher, Naberius Kalego, and forms a contract, turning him into a tiny chick.
Later, Sullivan reveals the contract will last for one year, and prematurely ending it will cause both of them to die. Due to this, Kalego becomes bedridden from shock. Iruma becomes more notorious as rumors of him enslaving a teacher as a familiar spread about in the school.
