The Demon Without Magical Energy (魔力がない悪魔 Maryoku ga Nai Akuma?, or The Demon With No Magic in the official English volume) is the twentieth chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
Iruma backs up nervously when he sees blood from the student's mouth, fearing he killed him by accident. The student, however, gets back up, saying he fears he might have from the scare. Iruma asks about the blood in his mouth, and the student says he has always had a weak body, so it happens a lot to him. The student notices the ring on Iruma's finger and deduces it reacted to his collar because they are made from the same material. He sees all his knocked-over equipment, and he starts picking them up. Iruma tries to apologize before noticing other students coming in and complaining about the mess.
One of the demons commands the student to clean it up but is told that he's an upperclassman. Shocked by it, his attitude returns when he realizes the student is lower ranked and proceeds to pick on him before leaving. Confused, Iruma asked why and the student explained it was because of his rank and weak magic. But he doesn't let it bother him. Someday he dreams of creating magical tools that demons without magic can use. So the student leaves, and Iruma sees he and the student are similar since he has no magic.
In the Abnormal Class, Kalego informs the students they have three days to pick a battler. Participating affects their ranks, but only those who earn it. So Iruma and his friends are looking for a battler to join, trying various ones. Sabro found one battler that caught his interest, the Demon King Battler. He learns that this battler examines and does research on the Demon King, which sparks his interest. Iruma and his friends go around searching for the right battler, from Suzy Stolas' "Diabotony Battler" to the "Library Battler" and some battlers that don't even exist. Iruma then brings up that there is one battler he wants to try out, the Execution Cannonball Battler. Meeting with the president, he offers Iruma a place in the battler after hearing about his promotion from the exam. Tossing the ball, he encourages Iruma to throw the ball as hard as he can. Not wanting to refuse the request, Iruma throws the ball while casting the spell Libera. However, this time, the giant dragon is much smaller than before.
Earlier, Iruma got his ring upgraded by his grandfather to better control his magic. The mode settings include Lesser Devil, Demon, and Majin. But in emergencies, Sullivan tells Iruma to use the last setting, "Pandora." Stopping Iruma from saying the word, Sullivan explains the incantation will release all of the mana, leaving Iruma defenseless. The president admits he was expecting more at the battler but still complimented his throw. Iruma leaves the battler thinking about all the battlers wanting him to join. But he knows they want the ring and the magic stored within it. Just then, an explosion occurs and reveals the student Iruma met previously. Turns out this student, "Amy Kirio," is a member of his own battler, the Magical Tools Research Battler.
