The Demon: Caim Camui (カイム・カムイという悪魔 Kaimu Kamui to iu Akuma?) is the two hundred-and-forty-third chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
The story of the Caim Clan is that their Bloodline Magic allows them to communicate with other demon races once led several under their command in a revolt against the Demon King's army. The King responded with brute force and nearly destroyed the Caim Clan, but they survived and swore allegiance to the Demon King, changing their ways and refining themselves into gentlemen loyal to the Demon World and the Demon King.
As it turns out, this was a story Kamui's mother read to her son as a child with the lesson that their family must always behave like proper ladies and gentlemen. She uses his father as an example, saying he is dignified, kind, and courageous (if somewhat lewd), and tells him that he will also become a fine gentleman one day.
Since then, Kamui strived to become a gentleman so no one would call their family "savages," but when he enrolled in Babyls, he was surprised to learn he was in the Abnormal Class. He asks Kalego why, and Kalego says he's literally in detention writing a reflection letter (which he fails to see the point in). He points out that he comes from a family of gentlemen, but Kalego states that the sole reason is that he was harassing female students. Still, he continued to act like a gentleman, eating neatly at lunch, to the point that he was compared to Alice since he eats in a dignified manner. Though a little put off by this comparison, he does admit that Kamui is a gentleman in terms of manners. His words remind Kamui that he does view himself as a gentleman.
When Momonoki asks Kamui why he keeps getting up, in his head, Kamui says it is because of his unwavering conviction: to be popular with girls (which Marianne guessed was his reason). In his mind, a gentleman is popular, which has been fueling his beliefs since he was young. Despite that, he genuinely doesn't understand that his lewd nature is constantly chasing girls away, especially since he believes he's just being honest. He also deludedly believes that Alice called him a gentleman (when he never did), and was even able to raise his rank to Rank 4, so he still doesn't know why he isn't popular.
He ultimately concluded that he needs a "moment to show off" like the others have to make himself popular, and he finally found it during his showdown with Momonoki. Ultimately, he collapses, but he falls into Marianne's arms, who demands Momonoki stop attacking him, thus finally making Kamui's long-awaited dream come true.
