Promoted (昇る悪魔 Noboru akuma?) is the two hundred-and-sixty-sixth chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
The Survivor's announcement wraps up and Dali moves to the main event, which announcing the two students who ranked up as a result of passing the exam. After Kalego calms everyone down, he says that the first student who has ranked up earned it because he demonstrated exceptional judgement, evolved his magic, and was able to hold off one of the teachers all on his own. This person is Alice, and as such, he moves from Rank 4 to Rank 5.
Alice takes the stage and Kalego raises his rank badge, much to his and his friend's delight. Dali then announces the second person, who earned it because he saved many students during the exam and used his magic to the max. This one is Zeze, who goes from Rank 2 to Rank 3. Everyone cheers for Zeze, who takes immense satisfaction in that he came in first compared to Chima, which leaves her seething with jealousy.
Baraki asks Alice for a word, and he quickly thanks everyone for their support before taking off, saying there is somewhere else he needs to be right now. that place, it turns out, is the nurse's office, where both he and the rest of the class go to see their injured classmates Kamui and Sabro. When they arrive, they see Sabro up in bed and eating, with Ronron and Puko sleeping on his bed. Sabro claims he has fully recovered thanks to Shichiro and Blushenko, but his attention is quickly turned to Alice's ranking up, causing him to declare that he will the next to rank up, prompting Alice to muse that he is just as energetic as ever.
Lied tells everyone that his team got wiped out instantly, as Robin popped one of his balloons the second the exam began followed by Oswell finishing him off right when he was ready to fight back, which has left him extremely frustrated. Valac Clara next expresses her rage that despite her best efforts, and even using her head (which was a surprise to others), she got eliminated by Suzy. Soi tells everyone that he an "awakening" of some kind and his juniors respect him, so he feels he learned a lot from this new experience.
As for Kamui, he's sleeping peacefully after receiving Marianne's lap pillow, and she even sent a food basket for him to get his strength back. He mumbles in his sleep how nice it was, but everyone thinks he is hallucinating. Kerori and Elizabetta are both furious with Kalego for not being enticed by the two of them, calling him spiteful and oblivious, with Kerori also complaining about how tough Operation S.O.S. was. In turn, Picero complains about Kalego and Shichiro participating (and also that his juniors won't leave him alone). For some reason, Goemon was feeling extremely down about what happened to him, so much so that he couldn't talk about it. Sabro hastily tells everyone that his juniors are not his kids (though no one really understands), and Schneider admits the teachers are powerful, wondering if their costumes were holding back their real strength. Jazz, like Goemon, refuses to divulge what he went through, and everyone comments on how loud Alice was when he was praising Zeze, but Alice quickly states it meant nothing and that Iruma will always be number one to him.
Speaking of, Iruma begins thinking that everyone in class feels the same way he does; wanting to become stronger than they are now in order to protect what's important to them, and that one day when they fight real enemies, they'll be able to handle them.
