The Beginning of the Festival Eve (前夜祭の始まり Zen'ya Matsuri no Hajimari?, or The Pre-party Begins in the official English volume) is the twenty-eighth chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
At the Asmodeus Residence, Alice tells his butler, David, that he won't be home for three days for the Battler Party. David remembers that Alice's mother, Amaryllis, had left a message saying that she would go to the party tomorrow and Alice demands that David stop her at all costs. At the Valac Home, Clara's siblings, Ran Ran and Sin Sin, cling to her feet, preventing her from moving. Mrs. Valac gives Clara three days' worth of snacks and toys and bids her good luck. At the Sabnock Manor, Sabro is on a call with his sister, Silvia, while he brushes his teeth. She tells him that while she will be at the Battler Party tomorrow, their father is too busy with work to attend. Sabro shouts that he does not care, causing Silvia to shout back to not shout out of nowhere. At Iruma's home, Opera tells Iruma that Sullivan is not home yet. Iruma replies that he's a little nervous, to which Opera initially insults the principal but announces that he is a demon of his word and will return in time for the party. Opera states that he should set his mind at ease and enjoy the party.
Iruma arrives at the Battler Party, where things have gotten started. A demon proclaims that the Food Battler will win the Special Award with their deluxe Devil's Soba, and their ace, the Monster Mountain, will lure in challengers with its smell. Iruma appears, asking to take the Mountain. The Food Battler is defeated by his enormous appetite, and Sabro applauds him. Sabro says the students should enjoy the pre-party since the faculty won't judge the showcases until tomorrow. Iruma asks what showcase Sabro is doing, and he replies that his battler is staging a drama of the past demon kings. He announces they will win the Special Award, but Jazz interrupts, saying he shouldn't be so sure. Jazz's battler, the New Magic Development Battler, made a new spell to create water from rock that they will demonstrate. Lied interjects, saying that his battler created an enchanted reality game with witches' hats enchanted with illusion spells. Iruma excuses himself, but not before Sabro calls out that he looks forward to his showcase, and Iruma replies he should.
Once gathered around their fireworks cannon, Alice tells Iruma and Clara his plan, Strike First for Swift Victory. They will wait until the end of the first night, and when the bell finishes ringing, they will set off the fireworks. Then, they will set off smaller fireworks throughout the festival periodically. Alice says he will provide the fire, emitting a small flame from his finger. Clara lights the fuse with his fire, and Alice and Iruma panic over it, but when the fuse ends, no fireworks go off. Alice discovers the cannon is not loaded, even though he put the shell inside.
In the secret room, Kirio is revealed to have taken the shell. He removes his glasses and gazes through the one-way window into the courtyard, deciding to get the final party started.
