"Narnia, you became a 13 Crown. You and I are of equal standing. That's exactly right. However, there is also a clear distinction between us. Experience. I've held this seat since long before you ever became a 13 Crown. The scope of my power, my influence, the funds at my disposal, the truths I can distort, the positions of my allies and enemies... all of it is engraved into me as intuition. If you become a 13 Crown, your every selfish desire is at your fingertips - this is true. That means that this time... my selfishness was simply stronger than yours. That's all." â Azazel Henri
First Cries of the New Generation (æ°äžä»£ã®ç£å£° Shin Sedai no Ubugoe?) is the three hundred-and-sixty-ninth chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
In the past, no one but Derkila himself could use his seal because it had the power to ensure that any command issued with it was carried out without questions. Narnia asks Henri how he acquired it so quickly because usually, it takes the approval of all of the Three Greats after a rigorous review, and even then it would take almost six months to use it.
Henri answers Narnia's question, saying he was trying to avoid a clash between Demon Border Patrol and the Thirteen Crowns, and while he understands the Many Ears' independence will upset several high-ranking demons, he felt it was too risky to provoke Mephisto and make him an enemy to stop it. Henri tells Narnia that while he is correct, they are both members of the Thirteen Crowns and, therefore, on equal footing, there is a big difference between them. Henri has years of experience, and the scope of his power, influence, and resources is beyond comprehension. He knows that being a Thirteen Crown means Narnia can do whatever he wants, but in this case, Henri's selfishness overruled his. As Henri leaves, he tells Narnia to submit a revised report, saying that a "pet dog slipped its leash and ran rampant."
After Henri leaves, Narnia commends Henri's choice of words, but he asks if he is referring to the Exacting Fangs as the dog or him. He also says that once a dog has tasted freedom, they might not want to go back to their master; they might even try to kill their master. He admits he looks forward to seeing what happens as he pulls out a sheet that says "Human Deportation Act" while Henri looks at a picture of Merize in his locket.
As for the Many Ears, the settlers threw a banquet to celebrate their independence after the issue passed. The Many Ears children crowd Iruma, asking him to show them his bow and arrow because he looks so cool, and Alice and Clara sing the praise of Bachiko for teaching him, which Mephisto overhears as he brings Iruma a drink (though he doesn't mind it). Alice then realizes that Mephisto has become awfully close to Iruma, as Mephisto gets in his way whenever he tries to go to his side. Fearing this implication, Alice quickly brings food for Iruma while he tries to warn Clara about Mephisto "stealing" Iruma.
Meanwhile, Nova tries to build up the courage to talk to Iruma, but Munmu appears behind him asking why he's hesitating. Munmu confesses he finds Iruma to be a strange demon because even though he is of higher rank, he treated them all as equals and was moved to anger on their behalf, and because of that, Munmu declares they will build a settlement that won't disgrace him. He then pulls out a megaphone to get everyone's attention so he can make a statement.
Munmu tells everyone that the commotion from before holds great importance to their people because, for the first time, they were able to find a future for themselves thanks to their carrots, and he credits Iruma, Alice, Clara, and Mephisto, and Nova for helping them see that. Before, they had no king to guide them, but they have taken a new step forward, and they should follow in the footsteps of Nova, who Munmu declares the new "king" of the settlement and their leader.
Nova is left speechless as everyone cheers in agreement, especially Iruma. Recalling Munmu's words, Nova humbly accepts this honor. Afterwards, he asks Iruma if they can talk.
