"Nupie, thanks for building it with me. I only realized this recently myself. But every now and then, multiplayer games really hit the spot. Don't they?" ― Shax Lied
If You Know, You Know (知るヒトぞ知る Shiru Hito zo Shiru?) is the three hundred-and-seventy-fourth chapter of Osamu Nishi's Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
Batt Nupie, a newcomer to the Gaming Battler, has finished creating her own video game town called Bat Town, but though she is pleased with herself, she feels she can't show it to the others. To her surprise, the leader of the battler sees her and praises her work, comparing it to "Star-san's." Hearing his name, Nupie asks if the leader knows "Star-san." The leader tells her to swing by the Gaming Battler room at 6:30, and she'll get to meet him. Around that time, she enters the room where she sees Lied hiding under a sheet as he tells her to lock the door and hide with her. She does so as March walks by, not suspecting that anyone is staying on school grounds without permission.
Once in the clear, Lied asks Nupie what she is doing here so late, and she tells him that the head of the battler told her if she stayed after hours, she could meet "Star-san," and Lied curses his senpai for leading Nupie down the "path of evil." Confused, Lied explains to Nupie that they are locked in and will play games until morning. Nupie becomes concerned because she's never done this before, but Lied assures her if they are quiet, no one will find out, and he admits he can concentrate better on his games here at school than at home. Nupie realizes that Lied is "Star-san," which Lied confirms, the name he uses for single-player games. Nupie also realizes that Lied has played all of the grindy games at school in a year and a half on top of the other games, and he admits this, even adding his experience with training alongside Robin, which he says improved his concentration to the point everything is too easy for him now. Nupie admits she is surprised because she thought Lied only played multiplayer games.
In Nupie's mind, she had heard about how popular Lied was at school for his victory in the Harvest Festival, and several of her classmates kept boasting how strong he was, but personally, she didn't see him as anything awesome. In the present, Lied admits he didn't play anything other than single-player games, and he asks her if she enjoys playing them, revealing he has seen her save files and is impressed with how she designed Bat Town. Bringing it up gets Nupie's attention, and he offers her a second controller for co-op mode, which she happily accepts. After six hours, the two successfully finish Bat Town, and Lied sincerely thanks Nupie for it, saying every now and then, he really enjoys multiplayer games, and she says they are amazing.
Come morning, Nupie is exhausted as she is visited by her classmate, who is annoyed by her classmates singing up Lied's praises again. She does ask Nupie if Lied truly is as amazing as everyone thinks since they are both in the Gaming Battler and remembering Lied invited her to the Gaming Battler room after hours on Wednesdays again, she smiles softly and tells her classmate it is a secret. Later, Lied sneezes while playing and wishes he was popular.
