Demons (
Appearance[]
The most common aspect for demons in terms of their appearance is to have a pair of horns or something like a second pair of ears looking like animal ears made of hairs, as well as a set of retractable wings which can disappear entirely in their backs and often a long tail, even two sometimes.
However, not all demons can have the same attributes. There are a lot of different kinds of demons in all shapes and sizes. For instance, few of them have cat-like feline appearance, expanded fangs on their teeth, features scales on their body, or grow hair all over their entire appearance.
Horns[]
The horns varies for each demons. They can be tiny, subtle, huge, twisted, or bent and can even consist of just one instead of a normal pair. Some of the demons doesn't even have any. All horns can be destroyed or cut from their head, but even so they grow back eventually as Amy Kirio's horn did.
Ears[]
If a demon has a pair of ears, it is usually pointy-ended and its position can either show going up or down. As mentioned, some even have cat-like ears or gills, and like horns, they can be completely absent depending their species.
Wings[]

All the netherworld's demonkind have a pair of wings with a base located between the shoulders. Usually the wings appears bat-like with a pointy end on each wing but depending on each individual they can also be feathered wings. Most of the times they can be used to fly but in some instances, due to the fact that the wings are too small like the ones of Purson Soi, it is not possible. Demons will most likely conclude it is tucked behind their backs if the wings are not seen. Supposedly, there aren't any demons that does not have wings.
Tails[]
The tails have noticeable differences between the male and female demons. On numerous occasions, the female's tail has a heart-shaped tip while the male has an arrowhead-shaped tip. Some demons have unique tails (e.g. Suzy's sprout tail) that are exempted from sexual dimorphism. Broken tails can be healed.[1]
Other traits[]
Some demons have special traits, depend on their species and living habitat. Demons that live underwater might have fish tail, gills or fins. Some demons have unique appearance (e.g. lack of nose, or eyes).

The demons uses Hebrew-based character texts on which the numbers also follow. Moreover, the demons, particularly the ones who attend Babyls, tend to include "Devi-" (デヴィ) as a prefix when speaking, often in exclamation or in an excitement. When speaking, they express talking in Japanese.
Connection to Humans[]
Since the ancient times, Humans and Demons have been connected in sort of methods. A common and known example of this is a pact using a parchment to call out or summon a specified demon. Oddly enough, not all demons in the living in the Netherworld know of this method as its normal use is to summon familiars instead.
Though the young demons believe humans to be a myth and often disregard their existence as rumors. There are some demons who know the truth that they exist and have proof mistaken as sacred tomes or artifacts. However the bigger connection is how demons do activities or everyday trials that most humans normally do. Such as the Execution Cannonball exam is similar to Dodge-ball or Battlers is the same as School Clubs. Though similar, they're more aggressive due to the demons malevolent nature, and their need to let loose.
Powers and Abilities[]
Although each demon may present some abilities that others do not possess, either individually due to the type they are such as the aquatic adaptability of sea demons or due to some family gift such as the horrible face of the Gaap family, a series of abilities are observed that are shared by all members of the demonic species.
Magic: All demons have the potential to use magic thanks to the mana they create in their world and through this they can use different kinds of spells and control them at will. The magnitude, level of power and ability that a demon presents may be different between them, with some being more powerful than others or having greater skill in a specific field. Likewise, there may be spells that may be exclusive to a certain type of demons.
- Verbal magic: The most commonly used type of magic and, as the name implies, uses a verbal incantation to produce magic.
- Non-Verbal magic: A type of magic that requires a greater amount of training to master and without the need for an oral pronunciation of an incantation.
- Bloodline: A type of magic that is unique to each specific demon family. Each family has its own bloodline that has its respective nature; for example, controlling a specific elemental force, creating objects by means, influencing the level of attention the user receives, among other things.
Invocation and relationship of familiars: All demons can summon a being known as a familiar which are other forms of lesser demons or magical beasts that can be used as subordinates to aid their respective master.
Flight: All demons have retractable wings that allow them to fly, being a natural ability in the species and something rare for a demon not to be born with wings.
Trivia[]
- Several families have as their surname the name of a real demon (some also being fallen angels) mentioned either in the Ars Goetia classification of the Lesser Key of Solomon or in some myths and legends. However, it is unknown if there is a possibility that current generations are descendants of these same demons in the story universe.
- In addition, there are also several characters whose first name is that of their mythological counterpart.
- During the music festival arc it was hinted that Lilith the first woman and a major demonic figure in the real world might have existed in the past in the manga universe. Being recognized in her active days in the underworld for her great beauty and currently she would have a musical theme known as "Lilith's Red Carpet" .
- If so, this raises the possibility that other religious figures such as Adam, Eve and their children Cain, Abel and Azura have also existed in the universe.
- Gyari hinted that the issue of same-sex couples is not something that demons care much about. This could mean that there are not, or at least not many cases of homophobia in the demonic realm.
