Familiars Summoned! is the second episode of the anime Mairimashita! Iruma-kun.
Summary[]
Iruma and his fellow students are taught how to summon familiars, which will establish their rank and what class they're placed in.
Plot[]
In a room by himself, Naberius Kalego reads the article of Iruma defeating Asmodeus before revealing that today will be the day when the new students will summon their familiars but appears to be specifically interested in Iruma.
In a flashback, a young Iruma agrees to anything his parents requested of him to the point that he agreed to let himself be sold to Sullivan. He wakes up and finds that his dream was accurate as he is now residing in the demon world with Sullivan as his new grandfather. At that moment, Sullivan enters the room and cheerfully greets Iruma.
Gathering for breakfast, Sullivan encourages Iruma to eat as much as he wants. Iruma gratefully accepts and enjoys being able to finally savor a meal as he has never gotten the chance to do so before. Just as he is enjoying a cup of Hell Grey tea, Sullivan questions if Iruma is ready for his first day of school. Iruma silently comments how he hopes to avoid going to the school out of fear he will be discovered for being human but finds he cannot voice these hopes when Sullivan presents a pile of gifts, a new uniform, and a hand embroidered handkerchief; explaining why his fingers are bandaged. Iruma is surprised at the gifts considering everything Sullivan gave him the previous day. The new grandfather explains that the gifts the day before were to celebrate them becoming a family and the current gifts are to celebrate Iruma's first day of school. Iruma soon takes off for school. Sullivan attempts to follow so he can record his first walk to school but is promptly stopped by Opera who forces Sullivan back into the manor.
At school, student council president Azazel Ameri is keeping things running smoothly. Iruma arrives and is quickly found by Asmodeus who reveals that he has been waiting six hours for his arrival. Shocked at hearing how long Asmodeus has been waiting for him, Iruma then tries to convince Asmodeus he doesn't have to do things like carry his school bag for him.
They make their way inside where Iruma asks Asmodeus what the familiar summoning is. Asmodeus explains that they both are in the same group as the one hundred sixty-three students were divided for the ceremony where they will learn what to do for the summonings. He goes on to explain that familiars are magical beasts whose very being will help determine the rank of the students. Iruma gratefully accepts this information but is concerned about a familiar potentially devouring him.
They enter the ceremony hall where Asmodeus informs Iruma that the teacher hosting their groups summoning is quite famous. As student Eiko tries to get Iruma's attention regarding saving her during the fight the previous day, Kalego arrives. He immediately demands silence from everyone before explaining that he is the instructor who leads the familiar summonings due to his high level of dignity and procedure. However, he makes it clear that he has final choice of whether or not the students will be useful and makes this absolutely clear to Iruma as he finds Sullivan's and Iruma's actions chaotic during the entrance ceremony.
With a final but fearful warning that those he deems as failures will be forced to withdraw from school, Kalego brings up a video that demonstrates how the familiar summoning will work. After the video ends, Gaako asks if the process will be dangerous. Kalego scolds her question and explains that a familiar cannot disobey its master otherwise it will invoke a punishment. Kalego warns the students to be ready and his hostility is easily picked up by Asmodeus who gladly offers to attack the instructor for Iruma. The teen quickly turns down the offer as they are ordered to line up.
One by one the students summon their familiars. Iruma is amazed at the sight of so many remarkable beings but is most captivated when Asmodeus summons a Gorgon Snake. Kalego himself is impressed at the being Asmodeus summoned but at the same time is not completely surprised due to the young demon's lineage. He does wonder how it was possible for Asmodeus to lose to Iruma considering how powerful he is and decides to test the teen in question next.
Iruma takes his parchment to the candle and is worried about the test exposing him since he does not have any magic. However, he sees a silver lining to the test since a failure could potentially mean he would be sent back to the human world. His hopeful smile at the thought causes anger in Kalego since it reminds him of Sullivan, the true reason behind Kalego's animosity toward Iruma as the chair-demon has caused several problems for Kalego in the past.
With Kalego ready to expel Iruma at the slightest mistake, he watches as Iruma places his parchment to the candle. After a blinding light clears, everyone is shocked to see the top half of Kalego's body exiting the circle. Unknown to either of them, because the parchment had Kalego's seal and Iruma is a human, the familiar summoning acted as a demon summing.
Iruma desperately tries to help Kalego be free but is eventually forced to pull him through the circle, changing him into an adorable fluffy owl with bat wings, two horns, and a black hair curl. Kalego is so shocked at what has happened that he faints while the students are thoroughly impressed thinking a demon has summoned another demon to be his familiar. Kalego becomes incredibly hostile at being a familiar that he nearly forces Iruma to undo the summoning but is quickly shocked by red lightning, the punishment of familiars disobeying their masters.
At Sullivan's mansion, the chair-demon is quite amused at what has taken place but informs the two that the contract cannot be undone as it has a one-year time frame and forcing an end would most likely result in their deaths. This news sickens Kalego so much that he became bed ridden.
At school, Iruma's fame has grown even more as news of the familiar summoning has spread throughout the student body and faculty. The nervous Iruma hopes to stay out of sight but finds this challenging since Asmodeus is going so far as to threaten others who are blocking the hallway. They continue on but hear strange noises coming from a room until a being bursts out and crashes into a pile of boxes.
A teen girl pops out and Asmodeus right away tries to warn Iruma to stay away from her. The fire demon is not quick enough to stop the girl from introducing herself to Iruma as Clara and asking him to join in her merriment.
