The Smiling Galna (微笑むガルナ Hohoemu Garuna?) is a portrait of an original character painted and created by Beem R. Judain. It was commissioned from the Magical Tools Research Battler for the Battler Party when Iruma Suzuki was its president.

Appearance[]

Galna is a young and beautiful demoness with the pupils of her eyes looking like round flowers. She is a sophisticated woman drinking tea and wearing dresses that give her the appearance of a lady from the Victorian era. She wears hearings of bats hanging by a chain, one white under the left ear and one black under the right one that Sabnock Silvia wears when she impersonates her.

Story[]

Galna has a big sister whom she loves to torment, Palome, pushing her to dress awkwardly or to talk to people who would reject her. For Galna, people are toys to play with, and her shy sister was a particularly fun toy to break. She has encouraged Palome to feel joy in the terror she would inspire in other demons,[1] to the point where Palome asks a painter with a bloodline ability enabling him to turn people into paintings, presumably Moebius Bime, the first and missing curator of the Moebius Art Museum rumored to have this ability, to make her a subject of terror for all those who would see her portrait.

Then Galna also asked to be turned into a painting to keep ruining her sister's life by becoming a scarier painting than hers. Later, a curator of the Moebius Art Museum rediscovered her portrait in storage and exposed it. This led to many curious phenomena happening with the other exhibitions and the staff seemingly plunging into madness. So, the curator invited those attending Babyls' Battler Party to get help removing Galna from the museum.[2]

Reception of The Smiling Galna[]

When people look at the portrait, they often feel that Galna is talking to them, taunting them like she used to taunt her little sister. The original painting, The Smiling Galna, was judged inadmissible by the teachers of Babyls for the Battler Party as it would have put too much strain on the mental health of the students seeing it.

So Silvia made a reproduction, which was deemed acceptable and was received by students as the best part of the Moebius Art Museum, the attraction of the Magical Tools Research Battler for the Battler Party.[3]
