Studying in the Netherworld (魔界のお勉強, Makai no Obenkyō) is the thirty-second episode and the ninth episode of the second season of the anime series Mairimashita! Iruma-kun.
Synopsis[]
The Misfit Class is super excited for summer vacation, but then they're reminded that if they don't do well on the end of terminus exams, they'll have to stay for supplementary classes during their break.
Summary[]
In his room, Iruma reflects on how his stupid parents sold him to his now Grandfather Lord Sullivan to become his grandfather. Not to mention all of the trials he had to overcome, but thanks to his grandfather's magic that was stored in his ring he's managed to survive. However, now he faces his most greatest enemy yet and that is... studying.
A few days before the present day, Clara and Azz latch onto Iruma as he walks through the Babyls Demon School grounds. Soon, they reach their classroom, the Royal One and the rest of their classmates notice Azz and Clara latching onto Iruma. He details they're doing it because of the effects from his Evil Cycle. The classmates try and coax both Clara and Azz to let go of Iruma, however, all of their attempts fail. Following Lied's advice, everyone in the classroom tries to latch onto Iruma and this is stopped by Kalego who enters the classroom. Taking his seat, Kalego announces that classes starting from tomorrow will be shortened, but notes because of that, students will have to concentrate harder. Also, he notes that the End of Terminus is approaching, which in Human World standards is summer vacation. As everyone is elated by the news, Kalego then mentions that they'll have to complete the classroom exams before that, leaving everyone except Clara in a shocked disposition.

Azz's precognition of the future
Afterward, in the Magical Apparatus Battler room, Iruma reveals to both Azz and Clara that he's not used to studying. Although Azz and Clara try to cheer Iruma up he shows them his recent string of quizzes revealing his poor test scores and that he can't read. Although Iruma can read Demon Language thanks to his Grandfather's magic, he can't understand a single word of it. Clara then reveals her own test scores which are higher than Iruma's, but still of a failing grade. Still the revelation leaves Iruma dumb struck as he's considered dumber than Clara who then tutors Iruma in some silly lesson. As this goes on, Azz's inner monologue notes his thoughts on Iruma and how he foresaw the future with Iruma being the King of the Demons and he as one of his loyal retainers. Overcome with emotion, Azz proposes the group study there after school to help Iruma and his grades. Furthermore, he reveals that those who score highly on their exams are able to rank up. This would give the chance for Iruma to rank up from Gimel to Dalet, just as the trio celebrate this new goal, Elicos Schenell barges into the room announcing he's joining the Battler. Later Ameri contacts Iruma and explains the reason as to why Elicos has been assigned to Iruma's Battler. Just as Elicos settles himself in the Battler, Azz and Clara waste no time beating him up and demanding that he leave. Once Elicos' joining the battler is finalized, Azz then mentions that if he scores too low on his exam, he may go down a rank.

Alikred's meltdown about how Iruma being dumb cause him to disappear
Back to the present day, we see Iruma laying in his bedroom surrounded by books and papers looking completely malaised and despondent. Afterward, in the dinning room, Iruma has some sandwiches and he talks with his grandfather and Opera. Sullivan offers to help Iruma by giving him the test questions or making them all easy for him. On the other hand, Opera notes doing that would do more harm in the future for Iruma and they also note that they have faith in Iruma due to his earnestly. Although meant as a compliment, it doesn't help Iruma's mood in the slightest. Returning to his room, Alikred thanks Iruma for having him, mentioning that if he fails the exam, they'd cease to be. Noting their worry for Iruma as if he fails he'd go down a rank, Iruma vows to at least not fail the exam. The next day, nearly everyone in the Royal One classroom assiduously studies all to avoid the supplementary class if they fail. Kerori, Sabro, and Allocer who follow their own pace and algorithm. Sitting at a free table, Azz studies with Clara and Iruma, doing it in a quiz show-like style. In the end, however, Iruma gets every answer wrong. Sad over this, Iruma notices a book on mythical creatures by someone named Balam Shichiro. The book then becomes animate and asks Iruma a series of questions, all of which Iruma answers correctly and it then announces that Iruma managed to complete Chapter 1 of the book. With that the book reverts back to its original form. Everyone in the classroom then praises Iruma for his extensive knowledge on the subject, except for Kerori who is notably envious of the attention he's getting. At this point, Iruma would act in a modest way, however, he acted in a serious way, noting he was in a "Study High". Azz then suggests that Iruma study Netherworld History and because of his Study High, Iruma accepts it.
In front of the Netherworld History classroom, Azz notes that Dandalion Dali is the head teacher of the class. Figuring it'd be easy to work with him, Iruma notes that he shouldn't hestitate to ask him any question he may have. Just then, a bunch of students barge out of the classroom in terror. When Azz asks what the problem is, one of the students reveals that Balam is subbing for Dali since he's experiencing his Evil Cycle. Iruma recalls that Balam is the person who wrote the book that Iruma aced and despite Azz's advice to come another time due to Balam's eccentric personality. However, Iruma still insists they go inside the classroom and when they do they see that the entire classroom is empty. It's then that they're all constricted by a vine and pulled toward the ceiling where the remaining students were at. Balam who was also there, notes his love for enthusiastic students like them and starts the class.
